For metal interior components, you can just have a good quality paint mixed to match the vinyl dye you get for the plastic parts. If mixed properly, you won't be able to tell the difference. If the charcoal interior color is what is holding you up, that's an easy one to resolve.
The same pro auto body paint supply store can do it all with ease. They can even put the paint into a spray can for you for an extra $10 or so.
Thanks, it is great to know that the interior color can be changed without a great deal of expense. I would still prefer to find what I want so I wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of a interior color change, but at least I know it is a viable option if I find the car that is perfect except for the interior color.
You might include in your planning that a 30 year old car with original interior would likely need to have the interior cleaned & recolored, anyway.
True, but I have found several with low miles and excellent interiors (usually the wrong color though), which are obviously garage kept cars since the interiors aren't faded. Thanks again.
I'd forget the mirrors and the tire size. You can easily add the mirrors and put whatever tire size on it you want. That opens up the door to a lot more vettes. Otherwise, keep your eyes open, you might find exactly what you are looking for ...eventually.

I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I have found one that is only missing the mirrors, heavy duty cooling, and tires. I already even ordered the build sheet for it to see verify the options. The current owner has already added the tires, so the mirrors are really the only missing option that I would notice. From doing a little research it sounds like the mirrors can be added, but it is probably going to cost at least $500. I'll keep looking for exactly what I want until I depart Kodiak, but if not, I will most likely get the car I mention. Thanks Mark!
Give up the optional tires. I can understand wanting a car which may have originally had them, but if you found the tires these days, they would be unsafe to drive on.
Hang in there; she'll show up.
I've got a buddy who is the original owner of his 85 C4. He has 28,000 original miles on it. He still has the original tires on the original wheels on the car (the car won an NCRS Top Flight award first time out), but I keep trying to talk him into replacing the tires with something new. 25 year old tires just aren't safe and he takes his 11 year old grand son to most of the Vette shows we attend. The tires feel as hard as a rock.

I agree, I never had any desire to have the tires it left the factory with, I just wanted the N90 wheels and tires in the 255/60R15 size.
He should 'mothball' those tires and bring them out only for the NCRS competitions. Maybe you can scour the net for some "AFTER" photos of car accidents due to running on old tires. If he sees the reality of what could happen to his grandson when out having a great time with the car, maybe it will wake him up.
P.S. Those tires were 'hard' when new....I had a new '84; you didn't get anything but 'rebound' if you kicked them.
i have that car that you are looking for .it was a silver car it is now red .it has more than 50,000 miles .if you want to repaint it silver thats fine but you will need to bring another vette or a large bag a cash .

Great, that means I now only have 710 possible candidates since you took a Silver away. Sounds like you are enjoying her, and hopefully there are ones left like her out there that are still Silver.
i have been told that if i put it back to silver that the value would go up .it needs paint so thats a choice i have to make. yes this car has been a lot of fun.the car you want is out there .

Thanks Terry. I have no doubt that one exactly like I want is out there, but after three years of searching, I just don't think anyone has it for sale or I would have already found it. I'll keep looking until this summer, then I guess I will pull the trigger on the one that closest matches what I want...
thats how i got this one .i wanted a 1980 .i wanted a 4 speed ,no computer .this was the best i could find for the money i could spend.but i do think think that i got the better car .the automatic is better ,i now have a bad knee.the gas mileage on the 82 is great and the 82 is the last year of the c3.good luck on your find

Thanks again Terry, I will keep looking, and hopefully the one I want will turn up.
Have you posted in the NCRS Driveline?
Perhaps a NCRS guy has this car in his garage. You know how picky NCRS guys are
Karol, thanks, no I have posted on NCRS Driveline, because I am not a member. I figured there are probably more members on the Corvette Forum, but your right, the right guy just might see it. Any NCRS guys want to post a WTB ad for me?
