so ive purchased a few misc. parts from zip-corvette.com but they seem a bit pricey... for example, 2 23 inch frame segments and a cross member cost me over 800 dollars, when ive seen full restored c3 frames on ebay for 600-1000 bucks... just wondering if i should continue to purchase from these guys or move on to a new vendor.
I have used Zip for over 4 years now and they are very good, usually get next day service via mail. As with all vendors here, each ones sells some things cheaper than the next and some items are more expensive. Compare prices with several items and several vendors and you will see what I am talking about. When it really comes down to it, shipping prices and how long you want to wait for a part are really the only differences with these companies.

ZIP, WILLCOX and Corvette Central are all very good, honest and reliable. WILLCOX is over by Louisville Ky, ZIP is by Richmond Va and not sure where Corvette Central or Ecklers are based out of.
I know if you have issues or don't understand something, WILLCOX will tell you over the phone, I haven't called any of the others one though.
Wilcox's help here on this site is GREAT! Prices good average on the phone and shipping time fair pricing, Zip is very quick delivery and has a GREAT tracking system and informing you of whats going on, the best in this area. I bought the weather stripping kit from ZIP three years ago when I got my 68. Didn't go to use it till two months ago, One mis-marked part and they still exchanged it for me three years later!!!!! that's customer service Pricing is high but no higher than anyone else and cheaper than most.

Look at the part you are asking about. It is a new reproduction frame section. This is only made by one company and there is not much discount on it, and yes it's expensive. I would imagine the tooling for that part is unbelievably expensive. Most of the time you can't compare the price of a new part to a used one on Ebay. I just got off the phone with a guy last Friday that bought a frame on Ebay for a 67, it was advertised as fitting a 67. Now all of his suspension and engine is in and guess what, it is a 69-73 frame. You can get taken pretty quick too on there and he has no recourse now. I wish I had a new frame, but they are close to 5k.

I've bought from Zip, Corvette Central, Willcox, Paragon, Doc Rebuild & a local supplier when I'm in a hurry. Depends on the part, how much I'm spending, how quick I need it and who's running a sale Several of the vendors will run a free shipping sale on occasion & I always take advantage
I've never had any issues with any of the vendors I bought from. Usually have the parts in less than a week. Zip & Corvette Central are both two day transit times for me so I can plan accordingly.
It pays to shop the online catalogs as the prices can vary
Hi,
I like ZIP too.
They're very good about telling you what's in stock, and are realistic about the shipping date for items that aren't.

Zip is a great outfit and I use them 99% of the time. Great service and they will match a lower price. However.......when it comes to frame sections I hope you have better luck than my friend who purchased a section that I would consider was a peice about two thirds of a full frame from them. Not blaming Zip at all, they didnt build it, and I can honestly tell you that they made good on it. In fact they probably lost in the long run, but they were first class all the way.
I live about 15 minutes from Zip. It's very easy just to run over and get what I need. They are great to deal with, excellent customer service. I also buy from Willcox, on a few items Willcox is cheaper including shipping. Either is excellent.

I would like to see ALL suppliers review their "shipping and handling" expenses. Especially now that USPS offers the "if it fits" alternative. Sometimes the shipping can be 20-30% of the item itself.

Believe me when I tell you we spend a ton of time trying to save the customers money on shipping. The problem is the service, if you want the service it has to be UPS or FedEx. The issue with USPS is that sometime parts just don't show up and there is not much recourse on our end for it. I wish it were, but the post office is not really set up to take the amount of packages that we ship in one day either.
