They all rattle and creak.
Mine mostly a few rattles. Go through the whole car and tighten every screw, bolt & nut you can. Over the years things start to loosen from vibration, & age. I got mine pretty rattle free for the most part.

The doors can have many issues. The most frequent ones are that the anti-rattle rubbers placed on the lock release rods are missing, worn out, or stuck in place where they can't do any good. Also, the little clips at the ends of rods get 'loose' so they don't retain the rods as well at the connections. You need to remove them, squeeze the "loop" tighter so that it won't flop around on the lug, then replace each.

There are also two window anti-rattle pads on the inside edge at the base of the window opening. They are mounted to the inside window frame by one bolt [each]. Usually, the felt pad wears out or the whole pad is missing from the metal backing plate. These are available at most of the Corvette vendors.

Lastly, if you have power windows, you can remove the cover plate at the bottom of the door, then rearch around the inside of the door for any loose debris, crud, weatherproofing, etc. that may be bouncing around in there. Good luck.

If you can't live with rattles a 40 year old car is not good for your health

I had an annoying rattle in my drivers door...took quite a while to find it ...turned out the door guide (found only on convertibles) was loose.

My T-tops rattle and I probably just need to replace weatherstripping and adjust, but I don't have them on usually anyway. Most of my rattles dissapeared when I put the sidepipes on.

I need to put a better sound system in there anyway. That will drone out the rattles.

One of the main culprits is the Exhaust Heat Riser Valve. A great deal of people remove the flap, etc to eliminate the rattle.

Well to be FRANK I do not even have the Radios hooked up in any of my C3's (72 76 & 79) BUT none of them have the super quiet factory exhaust systems on them and I just listen to the sound of the exhaust which in all 3 cars drowns out 90 percent of the rattles....

Works for me...

I know I am not driving a Rolls Royce or even a Caddy...and that is the point !
