Default 1971 Base engine transformation

Started putting my 71 engine bay back to its "early" days over the weekend.I have all the original parts to change it back to its stock, factory status. So glad the past owner's saved the items.I'm going to keep the headers on it for the summer so I won't be able to add all the shielding until I switch it over to the stock exhaust manifolds.
I'm liking the look already!I'm still looking for a chrome air cleaner cover if somebody knows of one I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands.

Yes, but CEC (Combined Emission Control) was used on all 71 engines, 4sp, auto, bb & sb.

The heart of the CEC system is a unique solenoid that was mounted on a bracket attached to the carburetor. If you want more info on this one year only setup I can send it to you.

Here's a pic of my carb with the solenoid to the left with a white label on it.

BTW, nice job on your engine make over.

Hi JMS,
I like the stock look too!
The air cleaner lids are difficult to find in nice condition. The top surface had several indendations which allowed moisture to gather in them and the rust went through the chrome plating pretty quickly.
There are nice repros available ($$), and I have a couple of originals that will need to be replated.
Nice Work!
Regards,
Alan
