Please advise what is the better carpet, orginal cut pile or loop, what is the dif. and who do you feel has the best product. are they all made by the same mfg. thanks for your input. Tom B.
Cut pile is more correct, but loop is higher quality. Looped fibers don't fray as easily and they clean up better. The cut pile over time will get "fuzzy" looking and will wear more quickly.
If you are not concerned about originality, go for the densest loop with the thickest backing you can afford.

The last time loop carpet was factory installed was 1976 on standard interior cars. All cars after that 1977-1982 used cutpile Carpet.
Up until December of this year we were able to order 80/20 loop carpet in cars. However, there was an issue with matching up the clip on edge welt on the 1978-1982 cars. This welt is covered by a valuer material originally and was only available in factory colors. So matching the valuer material to the loop carpets became an issue. When sold here customers for these cars were told that we would get it as close as possible.
But because this was a "close" match only, it generated complaints and thus ACC discontinued this as an option.
