Major Stereo upgrade
My old system would just not produce enough undistorted volume to overcome wind noise when driving at highway speeds with the tops off, so I decided to replace it. This layout allows me to carry the tops and a larger extinguisher. The amp is installed above the drivers side rear wheel well. The fans have plenty of room to exhaust hot air into the flying buttress. No alterations to the car and it sounds better than any other system I have heard. Lots of bass that you can feel in the floor wells but does not rattle any interior pieces. HU has many adjustments to suit any of my music.
Components used.
Polk Audio DB651 and DB691 speakers.
Kenwood KAC-8405 amp.
Kenwood KDC-X595 HU.
Schosche 6ga. amp kit.
Used kick panels.
Home made boxes and backboard.
Here is my result.

Looks really good. The first pic of the 6X9's shows the amp on the back wall. The later pics of the 6X9's show a fire extinquisher there. Where did you end up putting the amp??

Sorry to say that I did not make a pattern for the "headboard". Just measured and adapted as I went. I am not really happy with the look of the back board and I want to do more of a flush look instead of the stuck on speaker boxes. I built all of this. No commercially available pieces. I am aware that it is not ideal. I am happy with the amp mounting above the wheel well. mike...

Very nice mds 3013!. My wife and I just purchased a "new to us" 1974 stingray that has a very vintage am/fm 8 track that works... but barley! So I will be upgrading a sound system soon. Great place for that amp

For those of you interested in hiding your amps, an Alpine PDX-V9 fits very nicely in the passenger size storage well, and still allows the storage box to be placed on top.
Very decent power specs as well.
That being said, I do like how the OP mounted his amp over the wheel. Looks nice right there and really not eating up any usable space.

I'm using the PDR-v75 in my daily driver and the thing is tiny and loud. I'm thinking of upgrading to the V9 for a little more power to the sub.
