I own a 75 Vert L48....and I wouldn't trade it for any other year! I am REALLY proud to say that the '75 was the LAST year of the convertible until 1986.

Ok, so my '75 is not a convertible but out of my 3 'vettes (75 87 02vert) I love my 75 the best. I found my 75 in very tired condition, spent 4 years restoring it using the NCRS tech book. My 75 happens to be a Steel Blue Metallic with Silver Interior car. I was able to find a NOS rear bumper cover as well as NOS parts that I needed. My dad and my brother worked with me on that car during the entire restoration. I will never forget the day we found the build sheet. My dad didn't know what I had found and my brothers jaw was wide open. Yes, it's a 75 L48 automatic but that car is one I will keep forever. It's a real head turner when I take it for a cruise.
Definately nothing wrong with a '75 convertible. If I could find 75 Steel Blue Metallic convertible I would seriously consider buying it so I would have a pair of them.
There is no such thing as a bad Vette. I became the owner of a yellow 81 with 76k miles on it right after Thanksgiving 2010 and I love it. Performance wise it was a dog with 190hp and the L-48 is the same but as others have stated you have options to deal with it. You can really squeeze some more horses out of that 350 and keep it original. Dont let the "Its an L-48 and it has no power" crowd knock it or make you feel down about it. Who cares what others think as long as you like it.
Well said!

Get rid of the old original epa crap on it, convert it to true duals even with bullet cat converters like I did and you will get a peppier engine. It's no big block but it still leaves traffic when I want it to and handles the road rather well. It's just plain fun though not a drag car or wildly efficient like the modern six speeds. Funny thing is, my 76 which is very much like yours engineering wise, gets lots and lots of attention especially when next to the modern V shaped, soul less looking wedges of cars like the new Vette. Always, always...even though their power and technology are very superior. I'll take and keep my '76 like your 75 any day. By the way, I'll take your 75 when you tire of it. It's in great starting shape it looks like. Drive it a while on the new tires and get used to talking with people at stop lights, gas stations, stores, parking lots, everywhere. I once went inside for lunch at Pierce's barbecue and when I came out some dude was sitting in it with his g.f. taking his photo! He apologized and fled but I thought that was a bit much. It is not unusual that these shapes draw attention...always.
