I am in the process of buying a sweet 75 Roadster . Can anyone say something nice about it and it's L-48. It is original !! So far all I get is negatives. Tahnks
Nothing wrong with the shape....I own a '76 and if you want more zip in its engine start by getting rid of it's original exhaust and do straight duals and if you want more zip, get into the engine with a cam, heads, new pistons, more compression, maybe even hedman headers and the appropriate intake manifold and carb. There's no reason that you can't make the engine fairly powerful. Of course, just yank it out and put a new crate engine in it works too. Mine is the original with true duals now, 255 x 60 x r15 tires that grip really well and the car corners very well. Mine is the four speed manual so I don't know beans about the automatic. Mine is no drag car but it sure is fun to drive though can't hold a candle to a late 60's or early 70's 427 big block.
Well, it IS a C3 Corvette Roadster....... That pretty much makes it one of my very faves! IMHO, it's much more "Vette-ish" than any C4, 5, or 6 for sure (even tho I love them too, they're just too modern for my likes).....
There is no such thing as a bad Vette. I became the owner of a yellow 81 with 76k miles on it right after Thanksgiving 2010 and I love it. Performance wise it was a dog with 190hp and the L-48 is the same but as others have stated you have options to deal with it. You can really squeeze some more horses out of that 350 and keep it original. Dont let the "Its an L-48 and it has no power" crowd knock it or make you feel down about it. Who cares what others think as long as you like it.
a 75 convertible is pretty sweet, last of the convertibles.. these will do nothing but go up in price..good luck.. make sure it is in the condition you require.. check for rust, leaks, condition of brakes/exhaust/cooling....
The '75 convertible is IMHO the ultimate vette. I searched for one for a long time and found the right one in Daytona. It is also an L-48 all matching numbers 4-speed A/C car.
I stroked the motor to 383 ci but visually no one will ever know. When driving it, you definitely know. A '75 convertible is cool, go for it !

I am the original owner of a 75 L-48 coupe. I changed a few things to give it a bit more get up and go. Intake manifold, cam, true dual exhaust, no smog equipment. Everything I took off is kept in plastic storage containers in case I ever get the "all original" bug. If you detune your 75 L-48 I know you will love it.

Hi G,
If you have a dog he'll ride in it ANY time you ask. He won't care what year it is or how many horespower it has.
Just make sure you tell him to not drip his ice cream on the seat.
Regards,
Alan
I own a 75 Vert L48....and I wouldn't trade it for any other year! I am REALLY proud to say that the '75 was the LAST year of the convertible until 1986.
I love my all original red 75 vert L-48. Handles the speed limit quite well and she always gets lots of attention. AND actually quite a rare car as far as vettes are concerned.
