New tach board.... Wilcox Corvette..~$50..
Just remove the speedo/tac cluster with the 4 screws, and reach around and disconnect the speedo cable and you in like flint....
Here is a testing information sheet on how to remove the tach! Plus... if you look on there I have a link to a video on how to install the new board as well.
no need for removal of the speedo cable that tach just pulls out (with board) it is attached with the three "connection tabs in the rear of it" kinda plugs in
Yup, youre lucky you have the dash you do, others have to pull the whole speedo-tach cluster. On 79's, the tach comes out by itself. BTW, a new tach board fixed my problems with my 79's tach, so here's another vote for a new board.
Well i ordered the new board, so while in my free time i got it all taken apart and on the back of the board there is a huge black spot. so that must be the issue, I will update when i get the new one in. thanks for all the input

And make sure to watch the video on how to do the zero set on the tach.. This is most important!
If it is just the white portion since you know how to adjust the limits of the tach, you can epoxy it back and touch up the white. It will change the needle weight and you'll have to re-calibrate the tach.. but there should be plenty of room to do this.
You have to be sparing with what you use. To much weight and you can't calibrate it.
You may be able to swap the spindle part out with a speedo needle. I'm checking that for someone tomorrow. Was that you who sent me the email about this today????
