The little L46 just wasn't as perky as she used to be. My first clue was it got "better" when I by chance happened to have the floor mat out and hanging to dry - Huh! Suddenly it was a little more spunky...
On further investigation I discovered the soft metal throttle cable arm that clamps onto the half moon end of the accelerator pedal shaft had loosened up, and the throttle cable had slid forward a bit in the clamp that holds it to the carb. All in all it was a good 1/2" or more loss of travel on the throttle arm on the carb.
Well, Sooooomaaah! Oh, she's real fine now. Ahhhh. The good ol days when fixin chit was so easy...and fun! My 90 ZR-1 has over 60 connections, three electronic processors (ECM, CCM, DIS), dozens of sensors and actuators, and 100% electronic ignition. Gawd help an ol shade tree mechanic like me, were it not for the scanner I bought first thing when making the switch to 'puter cars.
But, it's my wife's C3. The little rocket has its own charm. Just something about these cars. It is "rude, crude, and socially unacceptable", but I love 'er just as much as the Z.
Glad to hear it was an easy fix. Every once in awhile us backyard mechanics win or get lucky. Your ZR1 sounds like an awesome car and probably more complex than the Apollo spacecraft.
Paul isnt it fun going from high tech thinking working on the Z then going into 1960 tech mode working on the C3. I like the fact that I can read the wiring diagrams for the 79 with out a collage degree....
