Default Removing Headlight switch?

I have the little tool - but that's not the problem.

I can't get the **** shaft to pull out - even pressing the little button.
Is there a trick? Do I have to turn it one way or the other?

Thanks!

-W (back to work on it - again)

I believe pressing the button does the trick and admit the button on the switch in my 68 is a finicky thing. I have to get it just right before it releases the rod.

Use varying degrees of pressure on the button while simultaneously pulling and pushing (not enough to push it back in, just a slight nudge) on the rod. Eventually the stars in heaven will align properly and it will release.

I had issues with mine too. The correct method is Pull **** out to stop, push release button, push **** in to stop, pull **** completely out... There's nothing finicky about it (unless you've got Easy Mike's switch). You'd think it'd be published somewhere

You don't have my switch.
I can push it once and it will refuse to release the rod. Push it a second time holding my tongue correctly, and rod releases like it should.

I stand corrected...I broke my first switch trying to figure this out.

I updated my post, the correct method (just tried it again)...

Pull **** out to stop, push release button, push **** in to stop, pull **** completely out...

What's the "little tool" that you mentioned?

I'll be pulling my headlight switch out soon, and thought you just had to press that little button.

There's a little "spanner socket" tool to undo the nut in the front of the dash that holds the switch on. A must have.

It's a VERY VERY VERY nice to have. Not impossible w/o it, but you'll be happy to have it. I used a VERY wide screwdriver. The socket is the right way.

Personally, I am convinced holding your tongue in the right place is the trick.
