Default *** '68 Vette question ***

Hello.

Is the lower wiper door moulding on a '68 Vette a one year only part??? If any - what is the difference between a '68 moulding and the wiper door moulding for a '69-72 (GM 3962695).

Thanks in advance.

Yep, 68 is one year only. The difference is in the end of the molding, where it wraps around the each end of the door. The 69-72 door has more material at each end, with a hole for a rivet to hold each end to the door. 68's don't have a hole, or enough material for a hole.

Hi bk,
The Paragon catalogue has a couple of good pictures showing the shape of the 2 ends as gb described.
They show how to make a 68 piece out of a 69-72 piece.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Glenn and Alan. Ahhh, the beauty of owning a '68. I didn't know that there was a difference - but I do now. Thanks for your help, gentlemen - much appreciated. Make it a great weekend. BK3

one thing also to keep in mind and I don't know if you need the long molding that connects back side of the door (faces windshield, it painted body color and chrome edge) to my experience this reproduction molding that paragon sells doesnt fit correctly on the door . I ended up finding a used one and did some work on it to get some of the dents out of it before I painted it. The reproduction end pieces that do fit and
work well. These are one year only as well. Just my two sense

In the pics you can see the difference. Early 68 I guess up to Feb or March has the short stubby fender Trim. Late 68 I guess April and up uses the same as 69.
Hope this helps.
