i have an 81 and the louvers at the rear of the front fenders are black and long panel under the doors is black. can you get these in chrome??????? thanks, namvet

You can buy 'em shiny, but the long panels under the door are made of stainless steel, and you can polish up the ones you have right now real nice.

thanks for the replies. all the 81's i've seen have black rocker panels. are you talking about stripping the paint and buff it out. i would rather buy chrome ones. kinda lazy. can you get chrome ones for an 81

Aren't the late C3 rocker panels the same anodized aluminum that are on the earlier years' cars? If so, you can't really 'polish' them without removing the anodized layer....and then there would be no rock/nick protection on them. If they really are "stainless steel", go for it.
