I'm still very thankful for the help I received for my wiper motor troubles. I took the advice of many posters and ordered the 1971 AIM and 1971 Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual. Unfortunately, due to living in Australia they have no arrived yet.
Another quick and stupid question, but is the little copper blade connector on the blower motor (as shown in the following picture) the ground for the blower motor? My blower motor doesn't run on any setting, and there is nothing plugged onto this connector.
Oh I see. It explains why it doesn't do anything if it's not getting power.
And you're saying the case of the blower motor is ground, and a spade connector bolts onto the case? The wiper motor is setup like that for its ground, I think.
Yes the spade is screwed to the case with a sheet metal screw that must bite into the case.
If you look at the holes around the case you will see a couple that are smaller in diameter than the mounting holes, those smaller holes are there so a sheet metal screw can bite in and provide a good ground.
It seems that Bubba really liked to tinker with wiring... I don't ever seem to get power to the motor, nor it is grounded to anything. Happy times await.
