Default 69 vert

going at lunch to look at a car that a friend is interested in. 1969 vert with both tops. Advertised as a complete nut and bolt restoration. Originally cortez silver but now daytona yellow, replacement non matching numbers block, 350CI/300HP. Black leather interior with muncie 4 spd. Asking price is 20K. I think he's about 2k high... what say you all? I will get pics at lunch. Oh he has documentation and protecto plate too...

thanks everyone,

Thomas

If it truly is a frame off nut and bolt resto then $20k is a good price.

You dont even want to know what it cost me to frame off my 69 vert

not a frame off. maybe older frame on resto from the late 70s or early 80s. Replacement front clip from 74 or 75 style. Immaculate interior, one of the nicest I have seen, even the clock worked! There is visible rust under the windshield trim and I pointed it out. It has the wrong valvecovers, coffee can style wiper door actuator (isn't that 68 only?), the paint is awesome quality and someone paid a lot for it. Trim tag shows 986 but it is now yellow with late 70s to 80s custom decals or inlays. Fiberglass monospring in the back. Lots of history including info like in 1998 the radiator support was replaced b/c original was rusted out. replacement master cylinder that has slow leak. Everything works even the lights and fiber optics. Nice car, that is extremely well kept and maintained. 1969 vert non a/c non numbers matching small block small block. Hard and soft top. Awesome chrome. stock Ralley wheels. Lots of history and documentation all the way to second owner. Replacement later style front clip. I will get pics loaded up later tonight. Guy is asking 20 k

So it's a "complete restoration" but it's got a 74 or 75 front clip? Those two things seem at odds with each other. There's no way I'd buy a 69 for $20k that has the wrong front end on it from the rubber bumper years.

But if you like it and everything else is in great shape, what else do you need to know, buy it.

If you like it , buty it. But dont think you wil easily put it back to original. It will cost you easily $10K to get it back to an original 69 front end.

For $20K you should be able to find a nice convertible that has not been molested.

The 75 front fenders should look strange with the 69 rear fenders. Also there was no wiper door on the 75 model, os you must have a 68-72 hood and wiper door on it. What about the vents behind the front tires? Are there 4 vents on each side or one inverted scoop?

Hi s,
It sounds like it might be a nice car for someone.
But with your description and up-date, I'm afraid the documention only serves to prove what the car isn't.
Seems way to many $$$ to me.
Regards,
Alan

Way, way too high. A rubber nose on a '69? Wrong engine? Wrong color? Its hard to add up all the deductions. History and documention is completely worthless on a Johnny Cash car like this.

I wouldnt buy it for any price, but $15k is the very ceiling.

Maybe even less depending on what those "70s to 80s custom decals or inlays" look like.
