Default 74 door panel lock removal

Hello again,

Was wondering how to remove the circular lock mechanism as to remove the door panel without breaking the mechanism inside holding it together. I was pulling on it and it does not seem to want to give - so I figured I would check on here how to remove it before I broke it... as someone already did on the other door before I got the car.

Thanks!

There is a wire clip that holds it on. The same as on a window crank. Pick up a window crank removal tool, you can get one at any parts stores they run about $5-$8.

When that **** is assembled, the clip is placed onto the **** and then the **** is just pushed onto the splined shaft. That clip will lock in a notch on that shaft. To remove it, you need the 'proper' tool; or, if you are careful, you can get a long/thin needlenosed plier set in behind the plastic washer, grab the clip and pull it off. The right tool is easiest.

The tool is $4-5 at your local automotive store.
