I have to refinish my t-top hardware...like the latches, guide pins, locaters...the stuff that holds and aligns the t-tops in place. All the chrome is flaking, and I was playing around with the idea of painting the pieces or powdercoating them. I'm talking about the little chrome hardware pieces...not the corner moldings or the giant t-top trim underneath the weatherstripping.
Has anyone here done this? I'd like to see what it looks like before going ahead with it...please post pics
My gut tells me don't waste your time and just replace the parts. I would think over time the paint/powder coat will start to chip from removal/installation of the T-tops over time.
Just my 2c.

Hi s,
I could see powder coating but not paint working for most of the pieces.
The front outer-corner, and the 2 pieces on the center bar don't have metal to metal contact because of the nylon bushings. The 2 locks have a rubber insert so thay'll probably be all right too.
The one I wonder about is the rear outer tri-angle. There's a nylon bushing, but there's still some metal to metal contact.
Worth a try?
Regards,
Alan
You finish gurus can chime in, but can you powder coat over chrome? I would think the chrome would need to be removed to allow for powder coating the base metal.
I'm on a really tight budget right now, so buying new is an absolute last resort. You guys know what I am building - unfortunately that means it has to look near perfect. Those pieces aren't cheap.
How about the stuff thats exposed once the t-tops are removed...like the windshield header corner pieces and the giant "t" stainless trim. Who here has blacked these out? Please post pics...
