Anybody seen this done before?
Still kinda' sniffing around the C3 market for a '73 model coupe. Found a '74 'vert that had the rear flex bumper removed and converted to the earlier style C3 rear body style... actually looked pretty good.
I'll see if I can find the ad and post a link.

Is there a kit offered to make this conversion?

Hi m,
There was/is no 'kit' to make this change, but it's certainly doable from readily available parts.
Makes me think maybe the rear of the body needed some 'work'.
I'm not sure just how this might effect it's value. I guess that would depend on what the buyer wanted in a Corvette.
Car looks nice in the 2 pictures.
Regards,
Alan

I have seen this ad posted here in DFW for a long, long time now. Close to a year. Price started out over $20k and keeps dropping. IMHO something just doesn't seem right about it.

Makes you wonder.... maybe it was all he had to make the change, maybe it was hit, maybe he got it that way, maybe he thought looking like a 73 would make it look more valuable, lots of maybe's. You would think that getting another 74 to 77 rear would be alot easier and cheaper, just another maybe. Anyway, doesn't it just make you appreciate a 73 even more...hee hee hee, maybe just because I have one, one more maybe.

For the price difference between '73s and '74s, it doesn't make sense to buy a '74 and convert it.

i would agree with alan that something probably happened to the rear of the car along the way. it could have been something so simply as the flex bumper drying out and giving up. because it was a "newer" technology, the first examples had problems holding paint and holding up to being exposed to the elements like the cold and heat (like would be common for a daily driver back in the day). in addition, the mechanics have been changed which might lead you to assume that the car was beaten up over it's life until someone decided to "restore" it. either way, it appears to be a pretty nice car from the pictures, but it is a one that will probably be difficult to resell at some point because the older it gets, the more it becomes collector material, and in it's current "restored" condition, it is just a nice hot rod in my opinion.
