My steering column is currently bright blue and am doing a black interior conversion. So far I have lightly sanded the column with 500 grit paper and the part that has the ignition key cylinder seems to be metal since the original paint was almost all gone from that section already. Not sure if dye will do a good job covering aluminum.
What should I use? Corvette America dye or a black paint? If its paint should it be gloss black or satin black?
It's OK to use dye for that stuff. Interior dye does not adhere to metal as well as paint. But, since that part will not see much wear (as long as you can find the key slot ), It should be fine. I used my interior dye to recolor the outer portions of the horn button and have had no problems with it.
im sorry you think a black interior is better then blue but if you want to do something that silly go to your local hardware store and get some semi gloss black and go have fun

I primed my steering column, horn button, seat back seat belt bezels, rear compartment hinges, etc, and shot SEM on them. As mentioned above, it's regular paint with flex agents.
My steering column and counsel need help.
The column has paint missing off the top and the console
needs to be repainted too.
What shade of black do I need?
