Looked in the AIM , catalogues and I'm stumped , how is the horn button assembly ,emblem, retainer and ring ,held together ? The parts all stack up nicely on the 3 pins ,but how is it all secured ?
The pins are spun over. I would try to spin them over and then apply a dab of JBWeld on the tip of the pins. The production spun over heads are known to fail if you pry on the outer cap #11 when trying to remove the the horn cap assembly from the steering column. You want to reach under the outer cap #11 with the blade of a screwdrive to pry directly between the metal retainer #9 and the upper horn contact #7 (they just snap together.)
This blowup picture in the horn cap area is typical of Corvettes through the years.

Reason: Clarify removing the horn cap
