Default Door handle drains

Just got the door handles and lock sets back on the car, talk about a pain!

How many of you have left out the plastic drip channel from under the door handle after handle replacement?

Oh yes, I left it off of my '81. I heard that it was to prevent ice buildup on the mechanism.

Around here ice isn't much of a problem.

By the time I got all the threaded rods adjusted, my hand was too tired and cut up to deal with it, which was a good thing considering I had to go back in a couple more times.

Nice car by the way.

If its the plastic 'cover' over the lock plate, that is an anti-theft device. When C3's first came out, the doors were easily opened with a 'slim-Jim'. GM had to install those covers to keep the theives from stealing all the Corvettes.

Good idea, replaced both of them, real pain. Trying to be careful of the new paint job and still adjust all the door lock stuff.

I considered leaving mine out but decied to put them back in. I scuffed them up a bit but with some flexing I got them back in. They are there for a reason: anti-theft, rain protection etc. Why not put them back?

Not much of an anti theft device, they should have made them out of metal.
