Well, after only about 7 years of primer, I finally decided to get my 71 racer painted, but first I schemed...
I new I wanted to go with a period-correct look, but not a direct copy of someone else. This site provided some great research, and if this scheme looks a little like yours, I hope you take it as a complement.
The painter spent all day on the masking. He also had some good tips on adapting the original scheme to the contours of the hood.
Here it is in the paint booth.
We made a new friend immediately after I got it home.
I painted the wheels black, and the pipes white, and I'm very happy.
IDK... if we're keeping it real here, looks Viperish.
Not digging the stripes on the scoop on the hood. The lines on a Vette are front to back.. not side to side.
Like the yellow black, but the stripes make it look like it should have an IZOD logo on it.
I probably would have put the yellow on the side pipes. I don't get the white pipes with red thing.
and that goatee looking thing should be black so it vanishes.
Back to the paintshop !!

It looks good to me! It is a very period correct scheme. It would look rite at home next to the Owens corning car or any other of the time.
