OK, was tied up with a death in the family the last few weeks and have been unable to respond till now, I apologize. I finally went with the Kenwood KFC-6950s, they were as close to a perfect fit as you could get, the Alpines mentioned had some fitment issues with the magnet being too large. The kenwood magnet cleared that rear bracket behind the grille. I would like to thank all those that replied and contributed even if I didnt agrree with it, better to have more opinions than none at all. If I was cranky with anyone, I have been known to do that just ask my wife, I apologize. Sometimes I write before I think. Also, I removed the rear carpetting last spring and did the entire rear greenhouse area in hushmat to help with road noise. My current stereo, which is JVC not Pioneer as I originally stated, does fade from front to rear as someone asked. The kenwoods are rated to 200w so that should be more than sufficient for my needs with this current set up. The prior owner saved the original Delco Digital which after I can get someone to give it a once over and find the original pigtails may in fact go back into the car. Thanx again for everyones assistance and anyone looking to do as I did and is not to concerned with Opera house sound should be happy with the kenwoods and the way they fit.
Just give me the good old days with my '77 T/A, Audiovox am fm 8 track, Jensen 6x9 Triax speakers in the rear, pizo tweeters up front and 50 watt 6 channel equalizer, things were so simple then,,,,,,,,
