I was totally happy with my '78 before I found this forum. I had a show quality re-paint done in 1993, and a 383 built in 1994. After reading this forum everyday starting about a year ago, I "needed" the Borgeson steering conversion, new exhaust with McJacks headers, distributer recurve, carb O2 sensor and re-tuning, new mirror T-tops, '79-82 seats with all new foam and leather, new stereo, new stock aluminum wheels and tires, 700 R4 trans, C4 blower and I'm sure I missed a ton of little things. I do like my car better now but you guys are killing my bank account! No more upgrade / make it better postings!
I'm with you brother. I'm just about to get my third Vette registered so I now have a choice of the convertible on a warm sunny day or the coupe if the weather looks like going pear shaped. Then there's the automatic one if I feel lazy and don't want to shift gears.
Then there's the '67 GMC stepside if I need to pick up some groceries or heavy stuff and the Holden Commodore V8 or the Holden Cruze if I need to take more than one passenger.
I hear you and sometimes get down about how much I put into my car and I have only had it around 4 months. I sometimes read some threads though and it makes me feel better knowing that I am not the only one
Same here. When I bought my 68 in 2000, I was happy with it, even proud .
Joined a no more existing Forum ( netvettes.com ) shortly after and found out what's all wrong with the car. Started to get pissed off and then joined this Forum and the German brotherforum , Corvetteforum.de
and have spend at least as much as I paid initially for the car.
Do I need a GM Viper T56 6 speed ? Or a tripower ? Or a NM engine ? Or real leather headrested seats with shoulder belts ? or a original stereo radio ? and many more I like to forget ?
Now, after knowing all from the forums, yes. Before , NO.
Absolutly sucks...... Car cost $K18, shipping, import, and of course my contribution to Julia and Im at $27K.
Now I find out what is "wrong" with it but Ill just have live with the "flaws".
1972 Coupe from New Hampshire, imported to Western Australia in 2009 and the girls all go OOOOOHHHHHH!!!!
Trouble is they are all grannies!!!!!!
Love it.
Peter
Yep, same here. I now am on a first-name basis with Corvette America and Corvette Central. I am having Richard Griot over for Thanksgiving as I buy so much of his stuff. I have 4 new shelves full of great car-care products instead of one small tub of Turtle Wax. I have replaced bolts that were not as bright as they should be with new ones. Takes me about 3 hours to really detail the car. I have no more thoughts of what to do *today* as I either work on it, care for it, or drive it with my Bride. And this forum is my home page instead of CNN!
The beauty part of the Internet & the American Way is that you're free to make choices....if you feel this "forum sucks" then don't visit it! Go somewhere else....no one is holding a gun to your head and making you come to this website (or are they). I personally like this forum because it has A TON of helpful information, thoughts, comments and opinions.

This forum does want me to spend more money then I originally intended to spend, but I'm pretty tight. What it really makes me want to do is sell my 74 and buy a 2012 model. No headaches and goes like stink. But the problem with that it would make me look like the Corvette guy all the women hated about me back when I had a new 73, back in 1973. My 74 looks like a stylish old car nobody see's anymore, and everybody thinks is really cool. Not that I should care what anybody thinks, but I guess I do.
So I suppose I'll keep my 74, which I really love and refrain from taking everybody's opnion about what I should spend my money on to make it go and handle like a new one. Right now I enjoy this forum seeing how much talent is out there, maintaining, modifying, massaging and generally loving thier Corvettes.
