Default 69 Corvette emblems

I just took delivery of a 1969 Corvette that looks to be in good shape. If I understand the production code correctly, 1969 was a long production year and I believe my car was built in november, 1968. All parts of the car look to be 1969-correct, but the Stingray emblem is not on the front fenders. I looked at the paint in that area and there is no evidence that they were there. Is it possible that some early model year 1969s (built in '68) did not have the emblems? Any help would be great...thanks. Tom

My 69 Corvette was built in Oct 68 and it has the Stingray emblems on the front fenders.

I would imagine the car has been painted and possibly (though stupid) they lost, stole or forgot to put the emblem back on. You should just buy new ones and put them on. No '69 should be w/o its badge of courage

More likely that there was a front end collision where the front fenders have been replaced, and they were never drilled for the script emblems. Do the front fenders have flaired areas on the backside of the wheelwell openings? If so, they are not 'stock' 1969 fenders from the factory (or they have been modified).

If you want the location points for the pins on the script emblems, they are detailed in the 1969-1975 AIM documents.

If there were ever emblems on it, there should be signs of patching on the inner fender (if you can get a visual on that area). The emblems are studded and held on with speed nuts. There should have been 4 holes for these studs.

I thought of that too since they would have had to fill the holes otherwise, but didn't want to make him feel bad. I know how it feels to be so excited to get a car home and then find out things you didn't know about. 7T1 is probably right though and I would have someone look at the car on a lift and look at the frame.

It could be as simple as someone taking the emblems off and filling the tiny holes and painting, or as bad as replacing the fenders. Is the paint the correct color per the trim tag? Do you know if its been painted? Its unlikely it hasnt.

Post a few pics and we could get more of an idea, but it should have the emblems.

I believe you are correct. I've pretty much confirmed that it has been repainted

I think they were stupid...the car has been repainted and I can faintly see where the holes are in the fender where the badge goes

The fenders are not flared so I assume they are stock
