Google 1980 Corvette image,
and then Google 1979 Corvette image, and you will see that your car has a different front end than a 1980

Post you VIN, Rzkas. That will - at the least - tell us what the car is supposed to be.

An actual 82 VIN will be 1G1AY8786C51xxxxx withe the xx's standing for the consecutive unit number. The ninth character is a check digit and will vary with each car.

On the driver's hinge post, you should find a stainless steel trim tag. It will show the time/build date and the factory codes for paint and interior color. Jot down the information on the tag or take a picture of it.

Here's what you're looking for. This one is from an 81. Your tag will be similar.

No, but it is an 82.

Hood looks like a 78 Silver Anniversary hood based on color and stripe.

First you need to adjust the hood slightly over the the driverside, that will center it. then you mark your hinges to the hood with a marker or crayola. Now adjust nose to windshield evenly ever so slightly. Make sure you have the hood hinge bolts just a little bit loose where it takes some effort to wiggle it where you want it. Since the fact that its not an 1982 hood, it will never be a perfect fit. If you want a perfect fit, find a hood in the same year as yours. Its all about what you want though.

The cracks are repairable.

all i want is a hood that fit good and have clearance for edelbrock carb with round air filter. Is the 79 hood better than a 82 hood. On the hood i saw a faint marker writing that says 75. Is this hood a keeper? If yes i will only invest ln a hood scope.
So my nose need alignment also?

You plan to put a scoop on it anyway then just use the hood you have,
That is the same hood that is on my modded 69 at the moment and it clears an edelbrock intake and round air cleaner....

How are your fiberglass skills? Your existing hood needs some repair work. Based on the pics, it appears to clear the carburetor and air cleaner now.

You have whats look like bare fiberglass on the top of the fender. If weather permits, shoot some rattle can primer over the bare area.

See if you can find a copy:

what length and height/rise l88 hood scoop will fit on my hood. i have pics of my hood on this thread (page 1).

50" or 32" hood scoop.

what rise will look good on this car and have good visibility through the scoop.

i heard some people have 5" rise/height, some 4" rise/height some 3.5" rise /heigh tetc.

if have this scoop on you car, what length and rise/height do you have?

should i take into consideration when buying a scoop whether it made with fiberglass or ABS/plastic and why?

http://www.stylintrucks.com/parts/l8...0126_3643.aspx

pls let me know thanks.

Your hood needs to move to the left a little (driver's side). The point of the hood will line up with the V in the surround panel. You want the fender to hood gap on each side to be the same.

You can purchase rubber blocks to raise the outer edges of the hood to meet the fender line. Placement of the blocks in the rain gutter on the fender is trial and error. Move them around until you get a match.

You have two areas on the hood which look like they need fiberglass repair.
