The atmosphere contains moisture, even in the winter. Whatever you choose to cover your car with, it has to allow any moisture between it and your paint to evaporate. A waterproof tarp will not do that.

That's certainly true. Especially in the spring when things start warming up.
I'd imagine you've walked into your unheated garage at some point and noticed the dampness on your daily driver. If not, great.

I think you're over thinking things.
Since you already have a tarp, put it UNDER the car, just a bit of dampness insurance. Moisture seems to rise. What's helpfull if you do find moisture is to slide several 2X4s under the tarp to create an air break. Best surface to actually store on? DIRT! NO moisture problems.

Park the car on the tarp.
Disconnect or remove or just put a battery tender on the battery.
Cover with a breathable cover, even a cheap generic cover is fine.
Leave it alone til spring.

I presently have 10 cars, mostly Vettes, plus my own 4 Vettes, and 2 boats in my barn for the winter.
Some guys simply parked and walked away.
Couple guys disconnected batteries or removed them.
2 guys have battery tenders running.
3 cars have tarps under them, owners choice.
2 guys did a quick fog on the motor.
I imagine some used Stabil, but I don't think that's necessary for 6 month storage.
Some of the cars are even a little dirty!
All are covered(one has an outdoor cover on it that I will probably be removing early spring)

MY Vettes, I have one on the lift and 3 on tarps. Removed the batteries and covered. Windows open for air circulation. One thing I do with mine is drain the oil in the pan now, and refill in the spring. Feel like that at least oils up SOME things in the spring.

EVERYBODY starts right up and drives away come spring!

Here's what I've done every winter for my toys since 1971

1) wash
2) change oil and filter
3) fill gas tank, no stabil or other additives
4) park and disconnect/remove battery
5) attach battery to tender

That's it for 5-6 months.

Try to keep your garage at a stabil temperature- either high or low. Fluctuations is what causes condensation and rust.
Yup, works just fine for my 3 cars also. I have a C1, a C3 and a C6 and they all start right up each spring. (Well actually this will be my first winter with the C1, but I expect it will start like the others come spring)You don't need to make short term storage harder then it really is. I do like the idea of a tarp on the floor. I may try that this year.

Buy a decent cover. Don't put a tarp on the car.

I park in the garage, take the keys out and put the cover on. In the spring i take the cover off, put the keys in and go for a drive. Repeat in the fall.

Ya, just do a quick google search. Pedophiles are notorious for doing this when they post pictures of themselves. I am in Cyber Forensics and Security. We are taught about this kind of stuff.
