I found a numbers matching 71 vert 270hp auto, good frame needs total resto though, needs front clip and headlight housings. $4000
What is your opinion on the price? Shemp
Hi Shemp,
What would you like the car to be when it's finished?
How complete is the rest of the car?
Is ALL the rest of the front end there (bumper, grills, brackets)?
How much of the work can/will you do?
Regards,
Alan
I jsut sold a 70 convertible that did not need restoration, but needed the front fiberglass bonded on and was missing one of the grilles and a bunch of bolts. This car ran well, was tight, and the frame was solid. I sold it for $7500 Allen is picking it up tomorrow. It is his furst Vette, but he restores Brittish cars, so he knows what he is getting into.
Consider a "total restoration" will cost between $20,000 and $25,000
When done, the car will be worth between $15,000 to 30,000 depending on the facotry options and documentation.
I have learned, either buy a Vette to drive, hop-up, or restore. If you want one to drive, buy the best one you can. Finance it if you have to, but get one tha thas been restored already. If you want one to restore, find one that is as original as you can afford. If you want to hop-up one, just get the cheapest one you can find that is the year you like, and has the optoins you want.
Don't buy a $4,000 dar unless you have 5 years and $25,000 ready to put in it.

That is what I was thinking I just finished my 67 but I just wanted some thoughts on the price. I want a 68-72 vert but I don' want to get too upside down in a resto. So I will probably take your advice and look for one in much better shape. Thanks for your responses. Shemp

Sounds too good to be true. Have you looked it over?
