The Flowmasters alone should make it worth that right Tim.....

I vote for the '81 too. Not that I am biased since I have an '81 as well but I think you will get the most Corvette for the money. When they are put side by side the '77 has some detracting points like the luggage rack on the back but some positives like the front end rebuild. If you get the '81 save your money for some stock style wheels in chrome, they will really pop against the black paint. Let us know what you decide to do.

I hate the t-top rack and im not a big fan of those kind of wheels.
And yes the mufflers make it a power house!
On a side note, the wheels on the 81 would be left at the previous owners house!

Crap.. I must agree with you ... well on the rims...lol.. I kinda like the ttop rack.. I dont have one but I kinda like them..
I liek mt stock rims, but at some point I wouldnt mind some torque thrust down the road....
I myself like the 81,,, wow did I jsut say that...lol... but with that motor only having 200 miles on it id be a little worried, not broken in, who built it..and so on......bt thats me
Does the '77 crate engine have a warranty on it? How bad is the paint? Just a few chips can be touched up a little where they aren't noticeable. What kind of job does it look like has been done by the dealer's car? A rush job to cover up any defects or a professional job? It might be a little high for having a crate engine.
On the '81 you are saying rebuilt motor. Who rebuilt it? If it was the owner, I'd be concerned about what kind of job he did and I'd want to know what kind of parts he used inside of it.
The price is close enough that I'd go with whichever one is the nicest and most complete car all around, if you have narrowed your search down to just these 2.

I kinda like the t-top rack...not love though. And I also like when people put on the later model rear end like the 81 as well, not a big fan of the sloping bumper.
And yes...the wheels on the 81 would be coming off ASAP...I'm mad I dont have the wheels from my other 81...But I am already searching for some new shoes

I believe the motor should have about 400 miles or so on it by now...He's been driving it, we have been talking for about 2 months now

I prefer the 77. As for the t-top rack...you have to realize there is much more storage room in 78- which some prefer.
The original C3 design rear spoiler was cut way down to a lip for prod. because the front was lifting at high speed so the 68-77 does not need a big rear spoiler. The Indy ft. spoiler designed for our Vettes w/ wind tunnel scoops up air for cooling, cleans up airflow underneath & sweeps the airflow around the front tires.
Rec. for all performance 68-79 ! I put factory 3 piece on as soon as possible, so early that the paint matches & it appears original.
