Default 77 or 81???

So I have found 2 cars!

I am going to see one on Sun.

But they both have had similar things done to them.

Here is the 77 $9k(asking) at a dealer
1977 CHEVROLET CORVETTE , 4 SPEED , ORIGINAL MILES [ 71,002 ] , NEW MOTOR(talked to him on the phone he said it was a crate motor) , JUST REBUILT MOTOR , NEW RADIATOR AND REAR END HAS BEEN REBUILT AND THE WHOLE FRONT END HAS BEEN REBUILT [ HAVE INVOICE ON ALL ] , NEW BRAKES , NEW ROTORS ALSO , NEW TIE RODENDS [ EVERYTHING ] , NEW SWAY BARS , SHOCKS , ALL BELTS NEW , NEW EDLEBROCK 600 CFM CARBURETOR , OVER $7,000.00 IN RESTORING UNDER CAR , CAR DRIVES GREAT , NEW FLOW MASTERS 40'S

the 81 $7,500(agreed on) private seller
Black w/black interior, A/T, P/S, P/W. Pwr brakes, alloy wheels, mirror T-tops with new weatherstripping both doors and tees. All the following is new and has less than 200 miles on it: rebuilt 350 ci motor, mild #265 grind Demos cam, Hedman headers, 3 angle cut on valves and seats, ported cylinder heads, recurved HEI distributor, 2,000 rpm stall torque convertor, Edelbrock aluminum intake w/Edelbrock 600 cfm electric choke carburetor, new Bilstein shocks on front, new Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings, tie rod ends and ball joints, Stainless Steel Brakes calipers all around with new pads and cross drilled rotors, Griffin aluminum radiator w transmission cooler, was tail happy so it's lowered 1.5 inches in the rear.

Thoughts???

Yes I know its all about what I like. But...I like hearing everyone opinions!

Both I'm sure sound nice.Be very very leary of the dealer.Never met one yet I could trust. If you know what to look for as rust gose at the very least look at both cars on rack.

Yeah I am swayed a little more towards private seller.

The dealer though, I have talked to before about cars he has. He's an older gentleman out in the country that "retired" and started restoring and selling cars. He "works" at the dealership by himself during the day and just talks to people. Whatever he doesn't sell just goes into his private collection(70+ autos). Seems like a cool guy...but he is still a dealer

i get a feel for a car when i'm shopping one.i smell the fluids, all i can get to.a highway romp is a must.that's where bad tires,u-joints,wheel bearings, transmission issues and a myriad of other issues show up.the 77' was a great looking year through my eyes and black on black is sweet.any pics of the 81'?81's i believe had a computer controlled carb so how well was the new stuff married to the old on that one might be an issue.either way best of luck and i can't wait to see what you end up getting.

Dose11 - PM me your e-mail address as I have a lead on an 81 that you might be interested in. The car is in NJ. I can't post it here because it's not my car. It is a private seller not a dealer. I have a bunch of pics I can e-mail you if you're interested. How's the leg healing up?

imo .i like the looks of the 80 -82.i also think the interiors are better looking .if the 81 has the composite spring it will have a better ride.the 81 has more open room in the back [big window] i would compare the paint condition [and or the color ]and if the trailing arms have been done. [lots of time and money for that work]in the end it will come down to your preferance or money.both cars will be fun. enjoy.

Go w/private seller, probably more honest and a better price.

Nothing noted on the new paint on the 77, cause thats not original .. What kind of paint, how long ago... was it in an accident ? ?

Why do you say that it is not original?
