Default Side Post Battery Master Disconnect Switch

Doing so much work on the interior of the car it's time for a side mount battery quick disconnect. I have not found one that will fit in the 81. What are you using and where can I buy it?

I just had a kill switch that broke the connection to the coil but have removed it since the only place I park the vette now is in the garage.

This is a Wirth blade unit from JC Whitney. The extra wiring is for a subwoofer.

I created my own with one of the round black units that has a plastic key for the on / off switch. To make it fit I bought a short battery cable, extra lugs and cut the cable about 6 inches, spliced a new lug on it, and then bolted it to the unit. The other side was then spliced, lugged and bolted in place.

I now have an easy way to disconnect my battery in case of an emergency, or remove all power for longer term storage.

I have one like no one, just orientated a little differently. You can get them at NAPA.

I'm looking for one, too, for my '70. Napa has nothing that will work--crappy selection of stuff. Same for Schuck's. I was wondering if one of the Corvette supply places would have something.

Sounds like your NAPA folks arent willing to go the extra mile. Here is a good one that NAPA sells.

Should be no more than $15.

Bought one like this from a vendor at Corvettes at Carlisle a few years ago for $10. He had a cardboard box with hundreds of them. It's everything I expected. Most every CF supporting vendor carries a similar item.

That's just like the one I have. Turn the **** 1/2 turn CCW and the power is off. Easy to use and fits in there just fine.

For $3 did yours come with instructions that it was made on the same equipment that processed tree nuts and eggs? That you shouldn't swallow it unless advised by your doctor? Or feed it to your pet? That it is NOT dishwasher safe?

I thought not. You got the stripped down model for the low, low price of 3 bucks.

I have a blade type disconnect that I got at Advance Auto Parts. It fits inside the battery box just fine.

I once bought the cheap ones and it gave me all sorts of problems, its sometimes lose the contact and the car wont start. I bought the real ones from Amazon.com, can't remember the brand name but its VERY similar to the chinese ones except that it has the US flag on the center of the ****.
