Default Bonding Separation - Help / Advice Needed

I noticed the last time my 68 was on a lift, that the bonding has started to separate in the front fender area just in front of the drivers side door. It's not visible until you open the door. The only clue I had originally was a 2" surface crack before I saw this sight. Is there an easy @ home method to fix this - like pouring epoxy between the layers and clamping shut or do I need to go to a body shop to have this repaired? Thanks!

Body shop... the damaged area needs to be ground out into a beveled "V"
and new glass laid down and sanded smooth.
No correct quick fix.

I agree. That area will need to be reglassed, and the paint repair will be quite extensive as well since the blend will need to go into the door and hood as well to appear seamless. Not a simple repair by any means.

The problem is that someone added fender extensions to match your 73 hood on your 68. What you see is bad body work coming undone.

Same issue with my 72. I'm in the process of fixing the fenders, restoring the wiper door, and changing back to a 68-72 hood.

Hard word and big $$$ to get it right.

Thanks all for your comments. PO restored this car and was painted a couple years back. In fact, when I bought the car in May, I also received a half gallon of left over paint, so mathing the color is the easy part of this repair. Oh well, it's only $.

Read up on fiberglass repair......no reason you have to pay out your @$$ to a body shop that may not do it any better than yourself.

Those fender extensions are not original and separating. You can just fill. You need remove and reinstall (glass it back in) if you want to keep the 73 look on your 68.

I see body damage. I do not see separation from stock bonding points.

Wrong again.

The add-on fender extensions are separating from the fender. The "stock" bonding points were altered when the fender extensions were bonded on to the original fender. The crack in the first pick is where the fender extension starts.

FWIW, the PO (owner #2) - who I bought the car from, told me that owner #1 replaced the front clip. Im guessing this Could be a seam. Anyway, I'll got to a shop and see what they say.
