Do you mean factory side exhaust or aftermarket such as Hooker?

If interested in a side exhaust, maybe take a look at my build up thread titled "My Stingray Pics"

...and if you happen to have a big block car, I have a big block system for sale..

I went with OBX which are stainless steel, very nicely made, quite a few others here have ordered the systems. I have a small block in my car.

Hi w43,
I think there's still some confusion about the side exhaust you're interested in.
When you mention "'fiberglass' covers", I think that indicates the 69 factory 'STYLE' side exhaust, not the aftermarket Hooker 'STYLE' side exhaust.
Which style are you considering?
Regards,
Alan

OEM (orginal Corvette side Pipes) what you see are covers, over the actual pipe.
only 1 supplier for new OEM covers Crane Corvettes app. $2500 just for the new covers,
not including the actual exhaust pipe/muffler.

OEM side pipes no covers = Extreme leg Burners !

OEM covers installed over the orginal pipes.

After market : Hooker, OXB,
All Side Pipes equal = Loud !

Hi w43,
It really depends on what appearance you like.
The look of the factory 69 side exhaust is classic, while the Hooker style side exhaust are more aggressive and racy looking, to my eye.
The fiberglass covers for the aftermarket 69 style system makes it more affordable, but compromises the appearance to some degree.
I believe the Hooker style are available in black, chrome plated, and stainless steel. But, I'm not sure, since my experience is with the 69 style.
The loudness of the pipes is dealt with in various ways.
Regards,
Alan

William, in the C3 Parts section, I have an ad for my Hooker system which is literaly 2 months old, very nice shape, not brand new as it was installed...but is HALF the cost, take a look...I have tons of pics in the ad

Whatever way you go, good luck and welcome to the forum!
