Default My First Car

Hey there! New to this forum.....
Just wanted to post this to say that I've always been a Vette enthusiast. I grew up running around the garage while my dad restored everything from Elkys to Chevelle's to Impala's, with his primary focus being Corvettes.
I got my first job at a lumber yard, making 5 bucks an hour under the table. I saved up to $1,000 by the time I turned 15, and bought a '77 without tranny, and a motor that didn't run last the tranny was in. I rebuilt it in my garage for an entire year, so that when I turned 16, I could drive it. I am 17 now, and can proudly say that many hard hours in the garage, I have been driving it. I am absolutely in love, and I am incredibly grateful to have such a beautiful piece of art as my first car.
Much love to all the other C3 owners out there.
Here's my finished product under the hood...
Rebuilt 350, Edlebrock performer intake, Edlebrock 1404 Carb, aluminum heads, new pulley's, water pump, flex fan, rebuilt turbo-350 trans, and all the wonderful chrome Chevrolet accents.

Hey congrats on the car and it looks great!! Those slot mags bring back great memories of my high school days in the early 80's.

Very nice

Is the flex fan enough to keep things cool? I don't see alot of them anymore.

wow, even with no engine or trans, if you got that for $1000, it looks like you got a helluva deal. Great work so far on the car! I did something similar to a 71 Cutlass when I was 15, and had it ready to drive when I was 16. I kept it for 14 years after that too.

Nice Work Alec,

I work with a bunch of high schoolers... I wish there were more of them like you out there. I really dig the Ansen wheels you have there.

Nice "early" 77! It is good to see some younger enthusiasts appreciating these cars. Excellent job so far.

Way back when I was in high school...I knew a kid that bought a cherry 79 Camaro. (ok, this was in 1991....) This car was beautiful. He got it for cheap, to this day I dont know who he blew for the deal he got. Anyways, I remember asking the kid some silly question about the motor (at that time all I knew how to do was change a valve cover gasket and maybe a starter) he looked at me and said...'I dunno, I dont even know how to change the oil'......It was that day that I started tearing cars apart so I could truly appreciate what I owned.

Once again, Kudos to you....

Hey Alec, nice having another young dude here on the forum besides myself. I am two years older.

Nice car you have there. That 350 looks really neat underneath that hood.

You stole that car or sure. Even the paint is decent. I bought my first vette at 18 and it was my first car. Glad to know someone is starting even earlier
