I'm also interested in what everyone has to say, I'm an auto technician, and I know there's some manuals out there that are very limited, and there's also factory level service manuals. Which ones are good and which are a waste? I'm interested in my 68 project.
Are any of these "restoration guide" books any good?
I got mine (1981) from Corvette Central on CD, it looks to be genuine from the print and such. Very handy, for the price I'd say for sure. I also got the Assembly Installation Manual, in paper in the binder, also well worth the price. Best money I spent on the car yet, saved me 100 times the cost of it, and I'm just getting started on the car!
The 82 GM service Manual is the only one that will lead you through the electrical and computer systems, easy to understand. An AIM is another necessary item. http://www.helminc.com/helm/welcome_...asp?Style=helm
The The Service Manual and AIM can also be purchased from several vendors.
The GM shop manual and the AIM for '82 are the best sources of info available to the C3 DIY-guy/gal. The other shop manuals are 'puny' compared to the info in the GM manuals.
P.S. "Helm" was the original publisher for the GM manuals. If the Helm manuals suggested are the same as the originals, they will be fine. If not, ????
