Default transmission wire

what is the electric wire that runs from the transmission to the firewall on a 1980 corvette 350 turbo? If it is an electric wire is it hot all the time or only when the switch is on ?

Might be the signal wire to engage the converter lockup clutch....can't remember what year the lockup feature began on C3's.

Yep, that's probably what it is. I think The lock-up converters only came on California 'vettes in '80, and the Cally 'vettes in '80 all had 305s in them. Check it out, I hope I'm wrong.

I have a 1980 350 with lock-up converter. But not working as far as I know. but has the wire over the pan on the LH side and goes to the firewall and connects to the Vacuum switch there

Well, I guess I stand corrected. My 1980 L48 auto does not have a lock-up converter. So, does anybody know how they decided on which cars got lock-up and which cars didn't? Did they just flip a coin on the assembly line?

All 1980 models were made in St. Louis Missouri, USA. Also known as 'the birthplace of legends.'

Original Transmission. Possible the knucklehead who owned it before me, might have ripped out the wiring for it, I'll check a little closer, and see if it has that little 4-prong female fitting for the wiring, if it does, I'll let ya know, and purchase a new harness to get the lockup working.
