Default Decoding numbers

Looking at a '71 coupe, can someone tell me where I can find info on searching the numbers for the engine and other stuff. I remember reading on one of these forums of a site but I can't find it by using the Search function (not very good with computers.)

I won't have time to get the numbers and post here, it's such a good deal that I'm sure it will be gone by the weekend.

I know about birdcage and frame rust, anything else to look for on a C3?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Cj,
Rushing into buying an old Corvette sounds pretty scary.
Try Google for: 1971 Corvette Registry. Lots of specs of all kinds.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the reply, Alan. I already have a '64 that I'm doing a nut and bolt rebuild on and a '95 ZR-1 so I know a little bit about them but a "little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.". A friend of a friend is hurting for $$$ and needs to sell ASAP but as cheap as it is I want as much info as I can get.

The car has A/C, P/S, auto, has been repainted once... just want to see how original. I could buy it and flip but that's not my thing. Just figured I would add it to the stable.

Thanks again.

You may be able to find some info on a site called C3 Corvette Land, or find someone with a judging manual for a 71 from the NCRS. Good Luck

The same numbers are on your C2 and C5. VIN, engine stamps, etc. Take the Black Book with you when you go.
