Default Need some help identifying this wire?

I was replacing my distributor, and I noticed this wire hanging down the transmission tunnel. I never saw this before. I wish I could tell you the color of it, but I'm color blind. It is coming out of the fire wall on passenger side middle. I have not had the time to dig out my manuel tonight. And this wire is now bugging me!!! Anyone might know where this is suppose to connect to? or whats it for? Thanks Dave...

Looks like the vacuum hose for the hot water shut off valve to me.

It's not a vacuum hose. It can be bent and stays bent. There is wire in there. The bracket is original.

On he firewall you'll find behind the distributor a section that almost makes a V. There are two things that pass through these two grommets. On the passenger side of the V is the heater/ac harness, on the driver side is the harness that runs to the blower motor.

If you have the AIM.. go to page 415 for the view of the left hand side and then to 420 for the passenger side view. If you have the AIM go look if not post back. I'm leaving for tonight but will check in the AM and see if we are getting closer. If you don' have the book then I can post up pics of this tomorrow for you.

looked on the 77 prints, shows a wire to a downshift solenoid and downshift switch, maybe part of that system. it recieved power off the heater blower switch circuit. there was also a anti theft hood switch some where in that area.

Page 415 is not it, this gromet actually angles towards the drivers side. Page 415 angles towards passenger side. Page 420is just the back view of what on the other page. Thanks though. Here are some more pic's it is a round rubber gromet with two vacuum lines -one which I capped to get the vent doors to work for the A/C. The wire is in this grommet on the right side, vacuum line on the left side of gromet. Page 142 shows it but can't make out what it is..

Is it the vacuum line that controls the flapper door in the passenger cowl? Black and green wire below -

Edit- I re-read and you say it's got a wire in it...hmmm

Edit again - P.129 in my AIM shows no wire coming through the grommet.

I just logged in to tell you... no wire there...

Solid Black runs to the source vacuum.

Black with a green strip runs to the a/c fresh air inlet actuator under the passenger side fender.

Black with a white stripe runs to the hot water shut off valve.

This will help you: http://willcoxcorvette.com/repairand...lp.php?hID=273

The green stripe one.. if you look at One2run's picture.... just loops back through the firewall. The other one with a white stripe should head down toward the lower a/c box area. I have to say, I blew up your picture and I don't see any strip on the hose but it could be on the back side. If this is the case it is the source hose which would connect at the intake.

The hood light comes off of the harness inside the driver fender.

I just assumed since I was able to bend it, and it stayed in that position that there was metal wire in it. I took a closer look today, then tried to slice some of the covering away, only to realize it was hollow. Now I need to find where it connects to.
