Alternator Charging
Has anyone experienced a loss of charging due to painting the alternator bracket?
Car has been sitting for years but the alternator was working the day I parked her up. Unfortunately my car isn't near by so I'm trying to pick up as much info as I can.

Not personally, but I can see how it would affect it with the loss of good grounding to the engine block which ties back to the frame and battery. Clean the area of the mounts and use a star washer for the top adjustment bracket bolt. Also, check the actual ground lead to the bolt on the back of the alternator that it has not broken.

There is supposed to be a grounding wire in the harness going to the alternator. If that ground wire is connected (and it is still a 'clean' ground line), painting the bracket should have no effect on charging.
