I've been redoing the entire interior of my silver 75, taking out every piece and redying it or repainting bezels, etc... The dash is a dark gray, all the other interior pieces are silver.
Was this darker color original to keep down glare or should it be silver like the rest?
Any pics of code correct silver c3 interiors before or after restoration would be very much appreciated. Thanks gang.
The difference with this dash and the silver interior I'm currently restoring is exactly what I'm talking about. This is how my car was when purchased (obviously not this nice).
My question is: Was this factory correct? And will a bright silver like the rest of this interior cause a glare when driving?
Here's the two Glenn recommended.
I'm not sure which is right for my 75. But more than which is right, I'm wondering if the silver (which I think I prefer) is going to cause a bad glare. Any thoughts on the bright dash?
Looks like the dash is darker to prevent glare. It appears to match the carpeting, since it is a darker gray color, also. I don't think I would want a silver dash (at least, not driving toward the sun!).
I have a dyed silver dash and the glare is intense. I have a pair of polarized sunglasses that solves the problem. I suggest the darker tint or the shades.
My father has a 1975 Sliver Exterior and Silver interior. The car is original and the dash pad is darker than the rest of the interior pieces.
I had the same question as you did when he first purchased it. Since then I typcially look at other silver interiors and notice that they all have the slighlty darker dah pad. If it is in good shape, I would leave it alone.
My red interior 68 coupe had a brick red dash pad. I repainted it red and the glare was very bad. C.C. sells black dash pads and thats what I have on now.
