When I picked up my brand new '73, it had the mirror in the "high" position and the script was right side up in that position. I turned it to the "low" position because I thought it looked better not being so high. I accepted the loss of visibility to be cooler. Ah, the foibles of youth.
BTW, I bet the photographer probably turned the mirror down in the top photo in the previous post because it blocked the model's face at that angle in the high position.
