Cruise Control
I'd like to install curise control in my 75. Searched and didn't see anything addressing this point. Has anyone been able or tried to install cruise? If so, how well did it work?
Thanks

this question has been asked in the past with no great informational response. Several had mention cruise control vendors and some responders had stated they had installed but never gave a how to, who's control used, pics, or if had good success. I also, would like info
Hope you have good luck with your question. Mike

AudioVox sells a nice aftermarket 'electronic' cruise control. I have their earlier version that sold for $100. It functions exactly as the GM unit worked, with ON/OFF, SET, RESUME, and 1mph bump UP and DOWN switch positions. Connections are 12vdc power, ground, vacuum (for the throttle servo actuator), and brake light signal (to trigger an automatic disconnect).
Their newer model costs about $200 and you can find them on eBay, Amazon or other sites on internet. I would highly recommend it as a quality unit that does exactly what you want it to do. I decided to install the little switch panel on the driver's side of the trans tunnel...just a few inches above the area where my knee would hit the tunnel and within easy reach of my hand. Someone with a bit more determination could rig up a later model GM turn signal/cruise switch arm to their steering column and operate it that way. Too much trouble for me, though.

You could get factory cruise control beginning with the 77s. AIM shows how you could add all of it if you wanted to go that route. The piddly part will be fishing the cruise turn signal lever wiring down through the steering column. Factory cruise may have been AT only.

I'd like something that looked oem even if it were to be from a newer year. The Auto only may be an issue since mine is a 4 speed. I had one of the first AudioVox units. Had to wire tie a magnet to the driveshaft.

I yanked all the cruise hardware out of my '81 recently. If you can get all the parts it really doesn't look like it would be too hard to add to any Corvette.

I had an aftermarket cruise control on a truck I owned and it worked great. I think it may have been the audiovox.

Yes, you have to tie magnets to your driveshaft. Stainless steel wire and two little magnets....no problem. And mounting a pickup to 'read' the pulses. Since the early C3's didn't have an ECU with an electronic speed signal, that isn't available to hook into the AudioVox unit. It will work with either signal method, however.
