When I was a kid, we all put air shocks in the back of our cars to jack the back end way up, and put big wide tires in the back, so it would look like a race car! Now, kids who don't know any better put big, ridiculous wings on the back of their cars. It's the same thing, really. I eventually outgrew that sort of foolishness, and so will you, hopefully.

I am not a "purist" by any means, I just think that C3 'vettes look so good that there really isn't much you can do to them to make them look any better. When you start adding doo-dads and gee-gaws, and bells and whistles like wings and spoilers and louvers and crap, you start to see the same effect as a beautiful woman wearing way to much makeup.

The '74-'79 'vettes can look good with a small wing in the back, because they don't already have a spoiler. But the '80-'82 'vettes already have a spoiler, and putting a spoiler on a spoiler will just look dumb. Kind of like wearing a belt and suspenders at the same time.

BTW, I google searched tangelo orange pearl, and I like it. Orange is one of those colors that people either love or hate, so if you like it, don't let the haters get to ya. And don't put a wing on your 'vette. and never trust a junkie, and always look both ways before you cross the street. That's about all you need to know.

Keep the shiny side up!

Sorry, I love customs but those wings do not go on a vette!! I do like the wing MrForce has though.

Am a far cry from being a purist but, IMHO somethings just shouldn't be done.

However, its your car and cash.

Sure, go ahead and put a wing on it. Just make sure to put a fart can muffler on it too.

Two thoughts:

1) I doubt anyone here has tried either wing, so no one can tell you whether or not they fit.

2) If you want an bolt-on that will work on a Corvette, search the Corvette part suppliers, like Eckler's (http://www.ecklerscorvette.com/corve...1980-1982.html) or Corvette America (http://www.corvetteamerica.com/cf/di...ategoryid=X540)

as for you rzkas if a wing is what you really want i think in the long run you will be happier with a turn down style rear bumper like the earlier c3s and then go with something like you see in the pic mrforce posted

the harsh comments are not personal attacks but humorous advise in your benefit that if listened to will save you allot of negative criticism when the car is finished
that would b a 70 superbird or a 69 dodge daytona

It's your car and your money so if it makes you happy go for it.. but having said that...
The reaction here on this forum is going to be more critical then a random sampling of people who will see your car, but you should know that there are going to be a lot of people who think it looks goofy and out of place and are more then willing to tell you about it. Just so you know....

Please note that most guys here are purists when it comes to the shapes and forms of the C3. I must admit that I'm in that catagory as well. I have no qualls about altering the stock suspension and engine in my '80. But the interior and exterior I'll leave as stock as possible. As far as I'm concerned the C3 body style is the ultimate in automobile design. And each year from '68 to '82 are beauties. Any non-stock appendage is just a distraction.

Good luck with the project.
agree with that! I love the shape of the C3 and couldn't think of how to improve it...

And when it comes time to sell it and get a mini van, the trade in is going to be in the amount of a "fixed up" Honda prelude that a 17 year old drove to high school.

A few years ago before my 71 was painted I had the dash out and it was laying across the rear deck. Upon pulling into the drive and opening the garage door my son said cool your putting on a spoiler. I took it off before any of the neighbors saw it.

Even the superbird looked stupid enough back in the day that Plymouth had a hard time selling the car. Nowadays it's so rare it's highly collectible.

A guy in my neighborhood had 2 of them back in the day, to us kids it was cool, the avg consumer not so much.

To the OP, you're joking right?

Maybe he won't trade it in. Maybe he'll keep it so they can bury him in it, not everyone only keeps them for a few years. As far as people laughing at him I wonder how many of the owners who keep them stock realize that they get laughed at for what they do or don't do. Once again it's his so what he does should only matter to him. As long as he likes it that should be all that matters.

I 100% doubt owners who keep their vettes all stock get laughed at???
He asked for opinions didn't he???
I could care less if he wraps it around a tree but he ask for opinions and hes getting them.

Maybe I shouldn't have said laughed at. With the guys I know it's more like, "why the hell don't he do something to improve the damn thing" and then laugh on the way back to where we park. Your right he asked for opinions and he's getting them, even though we all know what an opinion is like. If you choose to keep your car stock then so be it. I know I won't like it and I'm 100% sure of that.

Anyone who would walk away from a 100% stock car laughing at what wasn't done isn't someone whose opinion I'd have a lot of interest in.

Kinda like the guys with the ricers and 20" wheels. They don't like my cars? I consider that a good sign.
