I have a 1975 vette with a 383 stroker an RPM AIR-GAP intake, instead of changing my throttle cable and water neck , i want to purchase an aftermarket hood that will clear everything, please send pictures and where you bought your hood and are you happy?

Be careful of the 4" cowl, L88, and Stinger hoods. They can be tough to see over. To be honest with what you have a standard version of the above options will easily give you the room for your intake and filter combination. Since Spring is here and Corvette shows are a plenty I think you should walk around and see what strikes your fancy. If you see one you like, ask the owner nicely if you can sit in his to get an idea of what it's like to see over the hood. I have sat behind some tall hoods and right side vision is somewhat compromised.
Hi Rise Cowl hood from Ecklers over my Performer Air Gap, Holley 770 Street Avenger and a drop base air cleaner with a 3" K&N filter.
It isn't difficult to see over or around but it takes a little getting used to but after a week you don't know it's there. If you suffer from poor depth perception than maybe this isn't your best choice
I'm running a Cross-Winds air gap knock-off and a drop base LT-1 style air cleaner with a 3.75" tall element on a 409 SBC in my 69' with a stock 73' hood and still have 1/4" to spare.
You just need to verify what the height difference is between the Cross-Winds (4.65") and the Edelbrock (?) carb pad.
I would think at least a 3" filter would work just fine with the stock 75' hood.

There is a fringe benefit to the riser hoods...air flow.
I have an L88 hood on my L46 1970 car and I also have a very aggressive 7 blade fan.
The air that passes out of the 'mail slot' in the hood toward the windshield is HOT. Like furnace air hot. When driving in the cold, the heat actually warms the center portion of the windshield.
I'm trying to imagine what the under-hood temperatures are like without that air-flow path available to the engine bay...they'd be considerably more, I would think.
The L88 hood height doesn't get in my way when looking about, but much higher and I think it would be a problem. As it is, I can't see the passenger's side headlight when erected. You'd be blotting out a lot more viewable area if you put much more rise in there.

Elm,
That's the sort of info that I want. The big question is though, do you use the '73-'75 CI air cleaner top and rubber ring so as to use the CI function, with or without the solenoid flapper valve? I want to fit an Edelbrock Air Gap to my '74 , but retain the CI feature.
