The **** on my drivers side window crank broke off and I ordered a new pair. Thinking nothing of it. The new ones just look too good for the rest of my interior. While my interior isn't trashed it does have a nice, ahem, patina. It really made me notice how dull all the chrome looks on everything else. So now I'm pricing interior kits.... this stupid little $10 part has ruined everything!

This the beginning of a complete restoration. With a new interior you will notice the paint dosen't live up to it.... new paint. Then the chassis, then the motor. It will never end. All because of a $10 part.
I have been there. I have a 67 GTO that I bought and thought I was going to just drive it. $25,000 later and it still isn't done.
Mine started as an electric window motor repair.........
2 months.....and about two grand later......I am just about finished doing something I didn't think even needed done.........
hahaha, I see I'm not the only one! Good news is I've already replaced everything in the drivetrain except the diff. So no need to go there. And the paint and body need some love, I've known that since I bought the car. That's always been the last step. Seats covers and foam were next so I figured the interior was coming soon but had no idea how bad it all was until this window crank busted. It made me realize how much stuff inside the cockpit is supposed to be shiny. If I buy new shiny parts can I find the old parts a home with a NCRS guy, is there any market for dull worn out interior parts?

I did the same thing on my '69... new paint had to have new W/S glass and new chrome. New seat covers resulted in newly dyed dash and new door panels and new trim and...
Good news is, someone will always buy your old stuff (excapt the trash! ) I sold my nice original door panels on ebay for more than my new ones cost.
You know what they say about restoring a Corvette.... "Open the driver's side door and shovel $100 bills into it until it's COMPLETELY full and you can't get ANY MORE in there. Quickly shut the door and you should have enough $$$....maybe"
It would be cheaper to buy previously owned window cranks that have the matching patina of your interior, wouldn't it? Simply put a wanted-to-buy listing on our for sale forum. I'm sure someone will oblige your need.
