Default 71 Oil Change

Just finished changing the oil on my "new" 71. Guess I've been spoiled by my late model Tacoma. Not quite as easy with the C3 and I end up with far greasier hands. Glad it's over

Hi sf,
Yes that's true, BUT, has ANYONE ever turned to look at your Tacoma as you drove by?
Regards,
Alan

Hey Alan. Come to think of it, nobody has ever asked me what year the truck is either...

Excellent comment Alan! Nobody ever looks at our new Jeep but the Vette gets comments and rubberneckers daily.

I'm not to fond about getting under there either but it gives me a chance to wipe every thing down with mineral spirits and inspect. I feel much better when its done and i'm going down the road knowing its just as clean on the bottom as it is on the top.

What was hard about it? The drain bolt? I just had my motor rebuilt and while at it put on a new oil pan with a side drain, I heard this makes things all better

Latex or Nitrile gloves will prevent that. Or did you just feel the need to whine?

In my experiences, the older the car, the easier the change.

If you don't enjoy getting dirty/greasy/oily, then you don't really like working on your car.....

I can not think of anything easier to do.... at least they have spin on filters not the cartridge type on the earlier C2's etc.. and changing the oil on my wifes' mini van is a royal PIA as the filter sits at an angle..no way to remove it without dripping oil all over the place...

Now getting my body into position to actually see the fuse box is another story...you change a fuse for me and I'll do your oil changes
