Another year was not going to pass without finally getting a corvette. I always wanted a 1980-1982 so I did it at last. It's navy blue on the inside with 48,000 original miles. Only issue I had was a slight leak which I fixed coming from the transmission pan. PO or the mechanic he used put silicone on there without a gasket. Is that normal? Other than that the underside looks clean as hell and the exhaust was changed recently. The wife did mention something to the effect that it looks more refined than it drives. I told her it wasn't a cadillac after all. Needless to say I can't thank everyone here enough for the wealth of information I picked up the last few years.
Looks great!! I have an 80 4speed and agree that the 80-82 is a be-u-ti-ful car.
Enjoy. Have you noticed you will just find yourself in the garage just staring at it? It never leaves you.

Yes,I do. Never get tired of that. Just gotta clean the rims and tires as they're filthy.
I want them looking shiny and new.
My first corvette was an 82 CE and I loved it....yours look terrific.
82's are great cruisers and no they don't feel like a Cadillac. You might have the Gymkhana suspension (FE7 option) which gives a stiffer ride. Lastly you should have a pan gasket although these cars always leak a little.
Very nice car. I love my 81 and you will love yours. Sports cars are a driving experience. They are made to be driven. My lil Granddaughter once asked me " Grandpa that looks like a lot of work" and I said it's supposed to be and that's the fun part. Most cars are transportation only. We drive our Vettes because it's an event like an E ticket ride at Disneyland that's why I love my manual trans. I love just starting it.
congrats! I know I love my '82 she has 140xxx miles and still runs great. she is my DD along with my motorcycle, it seems the only time things break is when she sits in the garage for too long. If you still have the crossfire injection take care of it and it will work great for you. Its different and I think that makes it special. Just be sure to put some sea-foam through it ever once in a while to keep from anything clogging.
No, it is not 'normal' to use silicone sealant on an oil pan. In fact, almost all silicone products seal oil poorly. [RTV is the exception.] Use a good quality cork/rubber composition gasket; if you need a sealant with it, apply a thin wipe of Permatex #2 gasket sealer on both sides, clean both mating [metal] surfaces with a volatile cleaner, then install. Torque bolts to 1/2 of specified torque and let set overnight. Then torque to final spec. It won't leak.
