I'm really not sure if i regret this yet or not , I removed my spare tire tub and bracket.
Repainted everything and re-installed but i'm not overly crazy about it.
Thoughts?
Yeah Red Wing,
I dig it. Trade ya? My 75 has its original spare and a nice hole in the cover, not painted, just beat up. Sound fair? Nah, I didn't think so either. It's on my project list... Which is now longer than the car.
I'll echo the sentiment that I should have found a way to buy the vette sooner. Tops off, sunny day, blazing down the road. It is the most fun you can have with your clothes on...

at $2500, you get what you pay for... if i had known more about corvettes, there's a very, very, very small chance i wouldn't have bought it. the car is fun
sometimes think the school of hardnox sucks.

Aren't our "to do" lists always a mile long with these things !!!
My biggest corvette regret was driving my 67 BB roadster, PB/PW A/C with opt hard top to the local mall on xmas eve 1969 with my brother to purchase a Xmas gift for my dad. Came out of Sears and it was gone. Found pieces of it chopped a few months later. Looked almost exactly like this one.
I regret not buying the '65 Shelby Cobra for $1.5K in '68 even with all its drivetrain missing. Especially after seeing so many replicas at the Carlisle event yesterday.
I bought the car almost 2 years before discovering CF and the platinum rich source of information available here.
Thankfully and because of CF, I didn't mouse (sic) up the car to a point that it couldn't be restored to an acceptable level of NCRS standards, if enough time and cubic dollars are in hand. Cataloging the many #'s matching pieces removed, will pay dividends someday; whether I do it or the next owner desires to perform.
Meanwhile, I am perfectly content in the current Not Correctly Restored Stingray configuration that I run.

Oh dear! Now that one hurts. I'm still upset that 25 years ago I didn't jump on a 71 Mustang 351 4V 4 speed, blue interior with factory air conditioning for $1800 but that's nothing compared to what you missed.
So what have you done only to discover you wish you would have done differently?
I shouldn't have accented chassis parts (sway bars, calipers, A-arms, etc) in yellow. Looks great w/rolling chassis but limits your body color choices.

i should have gone with a dewitts radiator instead of a $300 one from Oreilly that i had to have the pipes cut and rewelded 5 times to make it fit properly. spent more money on that stinking rad than it would have cost to get a good one. can't say y'all didn't warn me though.

wow I firmly believe thieves should be shown no mercy.
It was my own fault, but I lost my 82's motor at about 60K miles a few months after buying it. Changed the oil myself and did something wrong when replacing the oil filter. When my daughter left for school a few minutes after I left for work, she could follow the oil stain on the road for about 4 miles. I made it about 15 miles and then, no oil, engine started clacking, etc. Long and short, needed to replace the motor. Knew nothing about anything so had towed to a good chevy dealer and I had spun bearings and probably the cam lobs were damaged. New crate motor, which was the real basic GM motor. Now I know the main thing was matching the manifold to the heads. BUT, even though it was the standard crate motor, I could have had the same crate motor from GM with 1.6 rockers and a small improvement cam. Chevy dealer did not even consider. To this day, I am perturbed they did not even suggest. I talked with them about a ZZ4 at the time, as this was a motor I had only heard about. Knew nothing then, remember. Told it would not work. Heads and manifold do not match, as I know now. So, wish I knew what I know now when I lost the motor.
My only regret is not having enough money to buy everything at once, instead I have to wait for each paycheck and buy a little at a time. Working on helicopters makes working on the vette a lot easier and having a near photographic memory helps me remember which bolt goes where
