Hi, I am looking at purchasing a 1982 Corvette. I was wondering if there is anything particular to look for/at when purchasing. I am new to the whole corvette scene and trying to learn as I go, but I do not want to by junk.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...2-finally.html there are no bad years .but some are better for hp ,some are better for resell ,some are better for ride and drive .what are you looking for ?are you going to race it or a dd?are you going to do the work ?how much do you want to spend?
If you aren't aware, the 82's were the last of the C3's and are something of a collectors item, thus have a higher price tag. They are also the only C3 with an opening rear window and only come in auto.
I read somewhere they were only offered in auto, but I did not know about the rear window.
By the way thanks for the info so far, those links were very informative!
the rear window opens on the Collector Edition (CE) model. all other
82's have a fixed rear window....and yes, they only have an auto trans for that year, it is the 700r4 OD unit. I just purchased an 82 about 2 months ago and really like it alot. I even like the CFI (Crossfire Injection) there are some people who won't go near it, but it is running fine for me.....
^^^ I agree! But one thing to look at for. If your planning on buying parts for it, like mostly interior, the collectors edition parts are more expensive
Thanks for all your help! Hopefully the owner and I can come to a deal. I will post some pics if the deal comes through! Easy Mike: I will definetly be looking online for those books
