I am looking for a C3. I have found a 73 BB NM car. My question is do the 73s have a resale problem? The only year with different bumpers. I kind of like it because the chrome rear looks better than the earlier rubber rears but I like the rubber fronts. But are these hard to sell? I like the 80 to 82 and was looking for those but this car caught my eye. I think I may like it better.

Hi d,
I think that people have the strongest feelings about 73 model year cars of any in the 68-82 period.
They seem to either really like them or....not so much.
So it's up to you.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan
As one of the 73 BB owners, maybe a little bias, but, it is really a special item, being rare for its body style, as well as being a BB, if the thing is original. If you get it for the right money and condition is good, or you restore to good condition, you should be able to get your money back if not more.

I have a 73 BB vette and it still gets a lot of attention. I think the 73 is a very unique yearthat serves as a good crossover between the 68-72 cars and the 74-77 carx.
I had a `73 back in the day and it was hands down my favorite Vette.
There's certainly no comparison with the power and comfort of my 05 C6, but I recently bought another 73 coupe from a guy that had owned it for over 30 years and couldn't be happier. I love the uniqueness of the year.

Tell us more about this one.

My favorite quote:
The Beauty of '73.
"Larry Shinoda, the famous Corvette designer, once commented in an interview that the 1973 was his favorite of the post-1967 era because the front and rear styling were closest to what the stylists originally had in mind when this series was first designed."*

I can't really say we haven't and wouldn't want to sell our 73, if we did I wouldn't take a penny less than 30k
All original survivor car big block 4 spd....65k miles....we love it.

Steve,
Yours sounds like mine except mine has been reprinted and only has 50K miles.
I have not seen the car yet. A friend who knows the owner told me about it. It is supposed to be a blue green with saddle interior. NM 454 275 HP 4 Speed. Original wheels and radio. AC not working but there. Driver quality paint. I will look at it in the next few days. Any tips on what to look for? how do I check for bird cage rust? How do I make sure the numbers match? Hes asking about $18,000. Is that a fair price with 78,000 miles?

If it's a NOM car, what numbers are you expecting to match which?
Im not sure what NM means... I thought you meant numbers matching, but then you asked how to check, so I dunno.
As said, check the VIN derivative on the passenger side head pad (front) and make sure it matches the VIN on the windshield post and the title.
I've had a couple '73, loved them. I think its one of those years where people either liked them a lot or they didn't, but I've never seen a problem in reselling them. My custom from 1981:

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
